Director of Operation Friendship
Reverend Dr. Edwards is Director of Operation Friendship, an organization whose stated vision is “To open portals of opportunity for urban youth by empowering them with marketable skills so that they may become contributing members of society. Toward this end, we offer educational and employment creation opportunities, comprehensive health care, and a programme aimed at the mitigation of crime and violence. This develops self pride, self respect and ultimately respect for others as well as civic pride, has sought over the years to provide a comprehensive programme in health, skills training, education, and other activities to the poor, unemployed, and unskilled people in Jamaica. It has pioneered the offering of Family Planning and Family Life Education facilities in Western Kingston beginning in the 1960's, and the Portmore area, and Cascade in Portland , through its Mobile Clinic in 1976.
